Air France will Suspend Concorde Services

British Airways announced that service operations of concorde will cease later this year, confirming what many rumour mills have said for many months.

More surprising though is that Air France have announced that they will cease Concorde operations from the end of May 2003.

Unfortunately this now looks like the end for this famous old bird!

🙁 🙁

I’m sure all the Concordes will go to good homes. Anyone think they’ll be bought as a flying concern or just as museum or airshow pieces ?

Yeah sad news, but look on the bright side, it has lasted through a hell of a lot of bad points in its history (a crash, 9/11, etc), could of been retired long ago. At least now it can retire with a little dignity.

I don’t mind it going now as it has had a good long run and is in todays world a completely antisocial aeroplane. It has been a fantastic achievement and I am pleased that is being withdrawn voluntarily rather than forced out after the crash.

Living proof that America is not king of everything!

I will be sad to see the end of Concorde, but it had to happen sometime, it is an old type, and being a loss maker there was no real incentive to develop a new generation of the jet. I don’t think passengers numbers on the type recovered after the 2000 crash. I used to love seeing the aircraft when I visited Heathrow, I hope at least one will be preserved for future generations to see.
