Air France, YYZ and Westjet

In the paper here yesterday it was revealed that AF is seeking a second daily CDG-YYZ and hoping to form some sort of agreement with Westjet, a no frills carrier here in Canada. I wonder, would this be the first major scheduled carrier to feed a no frills carrier (outside of people like AC and SAS who feed their own brand-Tango, Snowflake)?

KLM has/had a codeshare with Indian low cost airline Jet Airways. I believe the only KLM flight is/was the India-Amsterdam run. I do not know which Jet Airways flight(s) got KLM codes.

America West did, in fact, feed BA pax from its Phoenix hub. They even used to put BA’s symbol underneath theirs at their check-in kiosks, a la NW and KLM. I’m not sure if they still do, however, America West ‘technically’ is not considered a ‘loco.’ Their fair structures are not like Southwest’s, where everything is a one-way ticket. They are still part of all the national reservation systems, albeit, their fares are usually (not always) cheaper than all the biggies.

It is an interesting idea and no doubt this will not be the last occasion that this type of link up happens. This allows passengers so much more connecting options and more flexibility plus probably cheaper fares.

I think Virgin have a link with Nationwide in South Africa. Don’t BA deal with America West also?
