This feature brings back memories for me. I visited Iceland several times in the 1980s and 1990s. The domestic airlines was, at one time, completely made up of Fokkers, initially the F27 and then these were phased out in favour of the F50. The aircraft bore the title “Flugleidir”. The F50 pictured in the article (TF-JMS “Sigdis”) used to be registered TF-FIS and also called “Sigdis”. I flew twice on this aircraft between Reykjavik and Isafjordur and know how hairy take off and landing is there. Also I had several happy stays at the Hotel Loftleidir (the first being at the age of 13), which you can see on the far right hand side of the photo of the view across Reykjavik City airport.
