Air ministry Clockwork counter

I was given this to see what it was.

The back has two sprods – one to wind it up and teh seocnd that has setting 1 and !!. This latter one moves a piece inside.

To the side is a three digit counter.

To the front is a trigger and two levers.

Also Air ministry kings crown and number with a 1944 date.

No stores reference.

There are two wires that come to an internal terminal with a sliding connector that makes/breaks the circuit through the wires.

The trigger stops the clockwork mechanism by pushing a lever under one of the wheels.

I assume it was to count down or count up and given the size of thr trigegr was for a non pilot – multi engined ?

Was it for navigation. trailing eerial counter or release ?

Thanks

Brian

Yes it’s off the front of a bubble sextant.
