I was wondering on the size and application of Air Ministry wartime serial numbers, would they have been hand painted by a sign writer or stenciled. A quick internet search tells me that this would have been applied at the point of manufacture. Also the font style was it set across all RAF aircraft. Thank you

Thank you for your replies, would the size of the font be around 10 inches? I was trying to compare wartime photographs to get an idea of scale

I do have the original supermarine, ( or one of them ) Spitfire drawing if it helps, I also have the post war painters and dopers manual, which includes stencil details.
