There, I fixed it, now it says -200.

They were -200’s, not -300’s. You’re killin’ me!!

I’m just waiting for it to appear at LAX, but it is an ex Annsett/Singapore Bird, I was on the same tour as Greekdude down unda, I like that bird, it’s a little nicer than those ex-QF 747-200.

I’m a Mathematics Instructor MapleLeaf, and no, it’s not too personal. I travel mostly to visit fiance/relatives so I’m only paying for airfare. I have places to stay at my destination around 95% of the time. I’ve found throughout the years that the greatest cost in traveling is accomodation. If you can avoid that, you save quite a bit. Because I fly so much, I rack up lots of Frequent Flyer miles, plus bonuses, using my credit card, etc. I take advantage of the perks.

Greekdude, what do you do that allows you so much flying? Hope that’s not too personal. If you don’t want to answer fell free not to.

This plane never flew for QF, Mongu. Now, that’s not to say that it won’t in the future. I was down under 2 weeks ago, and I was told by the tarmac tour guide, that Air Pacific took both of the ex Ansett (leased from SIA) 744’s. I saw one of them, and have a pic, I think?

I once (1988) flew QF from Vancouver to Honolulu (onward to SYD) on an Air Pacific 742. I do notice that lettering of Air Pacific and Qantas are in the same font.
The tail looks very elementary to me, it always has, even in the old scheme.

That was part of my reasoning. They cooperated closely with Air Pacific on the 737-800 purchase. Who knows, maybe it is intended for Qantas use eventually?
Also, the colour scheme seemed Qantas-ish. It could be quickly repainted in QF colours.

Maybe it is because Qantas is the largest shareholder in Air Pacific?

I would of thought it did mean that – ex Ansett Australia and ex Singapore, but not ex Qantas? I’m puzzled..
By: mongu - 8th May 2003 at 22:37
Doesn’t mean it hasn’t had the Qantas livery on it!

“this old bird in the new livery is ex ansett ex singapore 744”
By: mongu - 8th May 2003 at 22:33
Are those planes leased from Qantas?
They have the same basic scheme.

A nice, vibrant colour scheme but it is certainly lacking some extras (looks quite sparse as Saab said). I think a colour across the whole of the bottom of the fuselage would look nice.

It would look good on a 767 or other smaller aircraft but on the 747 the colours look rather sparse.
