Air Passenger Duty APD

Fact, The further you fly internationally from the UK, the more APD is payable.

Question, If for example, I flew from the UK to Amsterdam, having already purchased a separate ticket for onward travel from The Netherlands, would I avoid any form of APD going Dutch?, to such faraway places like South America, Australia or Japan?.

Best regards, in anticipation, Gerry R.

APD affects all sorts of travellers not just the aviation fraternity, by airing the subject here I was hoping for a broader comment/discussion on ways to avoid some of the tax, especially on long haul journeys. Having said that, wrong section?, I am beginning to think that you could be right!.

Might this not be better served over on that sleepy corner of the forum known as commercial?
We’ll just kick it around and end up being irrelevant…

Irrelephant?

TonyT, thanks for that, a saving already I will keep that in mind for a future trip. Am I right in saying that Holland once had a form of APD but abolished it, due to lower visitor numbers and pressure from KLM?

Pass…. But one of our guys went out to Holland to service an aircraft, and the tickets were bought in Holland instead of the UK as it was cheaper to do Holland UK Holland, than UK Holland UK. So he flew out on the return part of the ticket and returned on the outbound one… If that makes sense, don’t know if it still stands.
