SFB may be in the middle of nowhere, but it has its advantages from a passenger viewpoint. Last year, we were in our hire car, figuring out the gears and air conditioning, 45 mins after the aircraft parked. At McCoy it seems to take at least two hours to reach the car hire depot after landing.
Give me SFB (as a pax) any day.

Well, they have a DC10 on the way which is currently in Helsinki so that could take over. I would think they would have to get more than one DC10 to replace the A300s. By the way, I do like G-TTMC, it is just G-SWJW stinks, whenever it taxies pass, I can only smell a LOT of fuel. According to a UK aircraft database, the C of A is due to run out 29/04/04 for G-TTMC and 18/05/04 for G-SWJW.

According to Jethros, the A300s are going at the end of summer 2004. So what are they going to do if the C of A runs out in April?
By: LBARULES - 17th February 2004 at 14:21
You wont be seeing a 757 in SCY livery. As I said in my original post the flights will be operated by Finnair 757s which they also leased this summer. I would much rather cross the pond in a Finnair 757 than a SCY 300. They seem very prone to delays.

Cant imagine SCY livery on a 757 so can someone do a photoshop thingy

I don’t actually know. I was wondering that as well. I shouldn’t have been on SCY in the first place so I wouldn’t know who their tour operator is!
By: G-OJET - 16th February 2004 at 21:56
Does anyone know what Tour Operator SCY are operating these flights for?

Will they renew the C of A? Apparently, G-SWJW stinks of kerosene so I wouldn’t want a 9 hour flight on a plane that is 20 years old and stinks of kerosene. It would be better for SCY if they got newer machines that were more reliable.

They could however ask Airbus to produce brand new A300s as they are still in production for UPS.
The Certificate of Airworthiness expires on 29 April, so not long to go! 😀

I would have thought the A300s would have been more appropriate for the routes, squeeze on more passengers.

Whatever happened to the SCY DC10s if they are not used on this route?
