Air Tahiti Nui, a long-haul scheduled airline based in French Polynesia, has ordered an A340-300 aircraft to add to its existing four of the type. The aircraft is due for delivery in June 2005. A commercial agreement has recently been signed with Japan Airlines and will include codeshare flights (from 20 April 2004). The agreement is intended to increase inbound traffic from Asia, particularly from Japan.

This airline has alot of growth prospects which its leadership really falls blind to see. Markets in North America, such as Canada (Toronto, Vancouver) could do with a service to the islands. Not only that but cities in Europe like :
*London – Heathrow
*Munich
*Zurich/Geneva
*Athens
Could advantage on the airlines Frankfurt and Paris – Los Angeles services, as well as on to Tahiti and further into asia (i.e Sydney & Tokyo – Narita). This would see the kangaroo demand pour at the airlines feet, provided that its base at Tahiti can handle such increase in people connecting onto other flights and its fleet can meet the yeild on Europe-LAX-Tahiti-SYD (or Tokyo).
Nevertheless, great airline, great livery as well;)
