There have been several restored Mustangs painted in similar 357th FG markings over the years, the story being that light blue upper surfaces were tried for a short time on some of the Group’s Mustangs as a camouflage experiment. There’s apparently little or no hard evidence for this, the only evidence coming from a schoolboy spotter who recounted seeing light blue painted examples at a distance.

Great photo’s with some great backdrops, thanks for posting!

What a wonderful set of images. It certainly made a great impression at the Hahnweide gathering. The owner can paint it however they like so far as I am concerned!
