There are so many different types of fighters in the world. You have dedicated interceptors like the Foxhound and Foxbat, fighters like the Su-27 and F-15, and fighter/bombers like the F-4 and F-16. What would be your top ten choices for fully armed fighters. What weapons would they carry. List weapons types and how many. These planes must be IN SERVICE and that means no JSF’s, F-22’s, Typhoon’s, etc. My top ten are as follows, and you know what #1 will be for me. 🙂 (These are in no particular order apart from the F-4.)
1. F-4E 1xM61A1 (640 rds.) 4xAIM-120B 4xAIM-9M
2. MiG-23MLD 1xGSh-23 (200 rds.) 2xAA-10C 2xAA-11
3. MiG-25PD 2xAA-6 4xAA-8
4. Mirage 2000 2xDEFA 554 (125 rds.) 4xMICA EM 2xR.550
5. Ching-Kuo 1xM61A1 (250 rds.) 2xTC-2 4xTC-1
6. F-14D 1xM61A1 (675 rds.) 4xAIM-54C 2xAIM-120A 2xAIM-9M
7. F-15E 1xM61A1 (512 rds.) 4xAIM-120A 4xAIM-9M
8. F-5E 2xM39A2 (280 rds.) 2xAIM-120B 2xAIM-9M
9. JA-37D 1xKCA (150 rds.) 4xAIM-120B 2xAIM-9M
10. Su-33 1xGSh-301 (150 rds.) 4xAA-10C 4xAA-12 4XAA-11
P.S. The AIM-120A is the American version primarily, and the AIM-120B is a slightly upgraded version for export. The planes with two guns (F-5 and M2000), have ammo listed per gun, not all total. The JA-37 gun doesn’t have a designation, so I just put what I usually see, and that is 30-mm Oerlikon KCA. I just put the KCA part.
