Whilst waiting for the staff bus at LGW today I heard the familiar sound of an ATR type aircraft landing, and assumed that it would the Aurigny service from GCI, but much to my suprise it was an Air Wales ATR!
Does anyone know what happened to Air Wales’s ATR fleet after it folded, and if it was covering for Aurigny, as I am sure that they are the only airline to operate this type of aircraft into LGW…?

Glad to hear the old girls are still doing well. I think some of them are ex CityFlyer ones I worked on a few years ago:)
Quite correct. G-WLSH and G-CDFF were ex CityFlyer, respectively G-BXEG and G-BVEF.

They always were profitable where others weren’t. By comparison to other types I worked on they were always very reliable. Often had small niggles but nothing to stop you going. I only remember getting stuck down route once in five years.

I believe the Aurigny ATR (G-BDWA)was in Glasgow this morning operating for FlyBe so it may be running around on Flybe flights now.
G-BWDA was operating a FlyBe flight to BHD this morning from LBA as well, and an Aurigny ATR also visited on the BHD last night.

One of the ATRs popped into Manchester today and was on a stand often used by Aurigny – so I’m assuming G-CDFF.

Have Aurigny brought newer ATR’s to replace them?

The reason in seeing the aircraft at Gatwick was due to the Aurigny ATR72 fleet being a bit tired and unservicable,
Hope this helps.

ref Aurigny and the ATR42
Two of the Air Wales ATR42s are connected with Aurigny ,Flightline and the old Air Wales management.
At the moment one is flying and the other is in Guernsey with Anglo Normandy Engineering.
The aircraft are operated on the Aurigny AOC with there crews flying the aircraft in connection with Flightline and the owner (Ex Air Wales?)
The reason in seeing the aircraft at Gatwick was due to the Aurigny ATR72 fleet being a bit tired and unservicable, today Titan were opperating there BAE146 for Aurigny on one or two sectors.
Hope this helps.
