It seems the AIR6000 fly-off to replace RAAF F/A-18s and F-111s between 2012-2020 has been decided before the other competitor even had a chance to “compete”!. There are reports in Australian newspapers today that the Australian DoD will soon commit AUD$350m (USD$180) towards the JSF/F-35 program and involvement in the program, hence I’d be very surprised if any other contender would be chosen for AIR6000.
