Airbase and CWJ Bruntingthorpe, all in one weekend…

As a birthday treat my better half took me away for a weekend of aircraft. Good thing she likes them almost as much as me…
Firstly Saturday’s trip to Airbase. And nice to meet the Shackleton again

And the ‘Rod I saw fly in only 1 year ago…

The Canberra, waiting patiently

And one of the Daks

In the hangar a YAK

Back outside, the DC-6

Sticking our noses in the next hangar showed the Hughes 500 still in residence

And one of the Dragons undergoing surgery

And Canberra

Cheers all, first proper go with new camera so I was pleased with the results! SH Ali’s a bit of an airshow veteran in her own right already. Which is a good thing!
Rich it’s what’s known as sod’s law. Next time…

Glad to see you enjoyed yourself at Airbase! Sorry I wasn’t there to have a chat with you on the Shackleton.

Cracking photos from Bruntingthorpe too.

Rich

Very nice. Love the shot of the Lightning with the heaters on.

The remains of a VC10 looked on

While the JP’s had a play
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/jp2.jpg
As did the Nimrod
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/rod1.jpg
And a certain V-bomber was there too…

All in all a brilliant weekend. Thank you to Ali, Ianf and James for ‘tech support’ on the Sunday, and well done to all at Airbase and Brunty.

Sunday saw us bright and early at Bruntingthorpe. The weather was a little dull, but at least the wind seemed to be pretty much down the runway as opposed to the crosswind fun of last year. Firstly we paid the Lightning QRA shed a visit
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/ltng.jpg
One out, one incarcerated with both engines out currently
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/ltng2.jpg
And a certain V-bomber was dominating the car park.
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/vulc1.jpg
Down to the flightline where some of the stars of the day waited…
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/Canb8.jpg

http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/trainers.jpg
Nice to see a Nimrod and Victor together in colour schemes very different to the examples we’re used to at Elvington.
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/rodvic.jpg
But where were the Buccaneers?
First we could hear the startup, then the tails came into sight over the hump, then there they were. A magnificent sight and wonderful start to the show
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/buccs.jpg
Where else but Brunty can you see 3 Buccs dancing?!
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/buccs2.jpg

http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/buccs3.jpg
900 having a quiet smoke…
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/buccsmoke.jpg
One happy backseater! Note the thumbs up
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/buccthumb.jpg
Our own Victor Sim (Ollie) takes 544 for a drive
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/buccollie.jpg
I had to go see the Sea Vixen
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/seavix.jpg
And Ali was taken by the Super Guppy
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/sguppy.jpg
The Lightning was, as usual, awesome
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/ltng3.jpg
Nice tribute chaps.
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/ltng4.jpg
A gentle stroll
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/ltng5.jpg
And back
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/ltng6.jpg
And then the loud lever got some exercise!
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/ltng7.jpg
The sun came out for the Victor
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz117/Blue2MGB/Airbase%20and%20Brunty/victor1.jpg
Next time lads blow the tyres up, and shut the hatch after you disconnect the Houchin…

Part 2 soon
