AIRBASE hosting Jaguar enthusiast's day

This Sunday (12th June) AIRBASE is set to be overrun by Jaguar cars at an event organised by The Jaguar Enthusiasts Club.

If you like Jags (who doesn’t?) then it’s the place to go – and the admission prices are LOWER than normal AIRBASE admission (haven’t found out how that works yet).

I was born a (long) stones throw from the Jaguar factory in Coventry (my primary school was even nearer) and I’ve always wanted one.

I’ll be volunteering at the event but trying not to slober/drool too much.

I’m guessing there probably be nothing to point out Jaguar Cars’ link with aviation. During WW2 Jaguar did a lot of sub-contract work both at Holbrooks, Coventry (including work on major parts of the AW Whitley and Meteor centre sections) and their Whitley Repair Depot at Bishops Tachbrook, nr. Leamington). Plus Daimler (taken over by Jaguar in the 1960s?) who were even more involved in the aircraft industry during both world wars.

The BoBMF are displaying, pleasure flights (and aerobatics in the Chipmunk) will be available in Classic Flights aircraft and taxi rides (DC-3 or DC-6). You can also have lunch (or a drink) in the DC-6 Diner.

see you there?

Roger Smith.

Oh, THAT sort of Jaguar, I thought it meant the proper one, with wings (they go a very long way you know).

There was a suggestion on the Yahoo propliners group that the DC-6 will not be doing any more runs.
