AIRBASE has a new ‘lodger’ – Yak-11 G-BMZY arrived this afternoon at 17.40. I understand she is to stay for “a couple of months”.

From the little bit I heard when she arrived I didn’t draw the impression of any change of ownership.
Banupa – I thought everybody knew where AIRBASE was 😀 😀

Greetings All,
Interesting news. Presumably that means work to be carried on behalf of existing owners with view to new permit – or has ownership now changed?
Does anyone know if indeed the aircraft has got new owners, and if who said may be? I would be very interested, myself, to contact the owners of this machine in the case that it might be in for some work, repairs, or what have you.
Cheers.

It’s certainly possible to photograph it at present – here’s a shot I took today so you could get an idea of access.

Last weekend it was on display in the main exhibition hangar (H7) on view to the public. I suspect it will be the same on forthcoming weekends, but cannot guarantee this, after all, it is a privately owned machine so may be out and about flying at any particular time.

Thanks for that Tim; it’s obviously been updated since I last looked, as the previous permit expired in August 2006 & a new application was pending, hence my original question. You’re over there a lot, do you know what’s going on & whether it can be photographed?

New permit? The CAA website indicates its current permit is valid until June 2012.
