Glad you enjoyed the visit. I wonder who the guide was? Seems a nice bloke! 😉

Just to let you know i managed to get a visit in at the museum .The family stayed in the car but I loved it .The staff were so enthusiastic and it looks small scale ,saw the Shackleton ( in bits).First time in a Varsity, havent seen the Harrier before some renovation work going on with the Sea Hawk.I then got talking to the guide who told me where the Lightning came from and i was able to tell him i had seen it years ago travelling down M6,which then led onto another Business that was going on in the airfield, wow this gave me a different view of the museum and its hopes for the future, could of listened to him all day ,and i have to say it lifted my spirits for the preservation world.

Yes closed on Friday and Saturday. Open other days from 11 to 4. For first time visitors, take directions to RAF St. Mawgan or Treloy Holiday Park and not to the civil airport. Keeping the RAF gate on your right, carry on up the hill and you will arrive at Gate 6. This is manned on the times that CAHC is open.

CAHC are positioned just behind me (Gateguards). I will go over and find out what their actual Easter opening hours are, but believe that they are closed on Good Friday and then on the Saturday. There is sadly no public access to the Shackleton as it stored with us, but can be seen up close from the CAHC site.

Sadly Airbase in Newquay closed a few years ago now and all the airworthy aircraft came back to Coventry, however the Cornwall volunteers are still there in their new facility and they get some great reviews.
