Just been browsing Ebay, and seen that someone is selling a model of the Airbus A380 Freighter. They have listed the model as a rare one, due to Airbus cancelling the Freighter program…
Is this true? If so when was this announced?
Thanks. 🙂

I think I read somewhere that UPS may come back to the A380F at a later date ?

The A380F has not been cancelled but deffered to a later date as airbus wanted to focus all its recources on getting the A380 PAX problems sorted out . Cancellation of slots also meant that some of the airlines can get earlier delivery .
I dont see the A380-8F as being a hit in the VLA Freight market . The 748F is far superior freighter by todays standards as the only advantage for the A388F seems to be extra range which isnt really required for freight ( we arent dealing with packages who want to go from point to point) as the entire industry is based on the 747 range anyways (the queen made the freight industry) . I do however see the A389 (if launched) being popular but wether that justifies a program launch in the future remains to be seen .

I think the A380 will turn out to be a white elephant not selling anywhere near it’s projected sales outcome..even 747 sales have slowed to a trickle these days with airlines leaning more toward the fuel efficient twins

According to Wikipedia, after UPS cancelled their order Airbus stopped working on the A380F to get the pax version out quicker but it still remains on offer!
