Hi all,
Has anyone had any luck in getting large scale manufacturers drawings copied and printed for their projects? Specifically large drawings such as fuselage frames or GA’s?
We have some Shackleton GA’s that we’re trying to get reproduced and so far my Googling is failing to come up with anything specific, so if anyone has any recommendations it would be appreciated.
(When I say big I mean REALLY big. 1″ : 1ft side GA of Shack MR3… 😀 )
Regards,
Rich

Oddly enough – try your local Staples/Office Depot. Their copy centres can often scan/print up to A0 in size. I’ve used them more than a couple of times to run out the scale drawings for the Horsa project.

Unsure if helps you with your personal location Rich but maybe for the drawings if at Coventry ? There is a John E Wright (as Twin Otter recommends) in Coventry. I have used them many times to scan large scale radio control aircraft plans. Top people, decent price and always deliver what you ask without fail. Highly recommended.

The Cambridge branch of these guys did a 4m x 2m full-size wing spar GA for the Gransden Hurricane: http://www.minutemanpress.co.uk/

Rich – what size are you actually talking about – in terms of drawing width? Large format scanners and printers can handle fairly big items (up to 60″ wide with pretty much no limit on length)….

Rich it might be worthwhile speaking with this company http://www.johnewright.com/ – they have quoted for scanning / printing for some drawings in the NAM Archive; but not sure on what sizes they can handle; good spread of locations in Midlands.
