Aircraft Carrier – coloured jersey's

I was wondering if anyone could help me, i’ve done a search on the forum but found nothing

I was intrigued to find out that the the Royal Navy (British Navy) and the United States Navy operate a coloured jersey system on board their ships. This is so you can distinguish who does what trade, as onboard a hectic flight deck you need to see who does what at a glance. (though i believe this is only used by the aircraft suport teams  ).
I have seen on many programs featuring US aircraft carriers, and if i rememeber correctly the aircraft eningeers wear green or brown jersey’s and weapons technicians wear red jersey’s, i think!?!?.
I know that the Royal Navy aircraft handlers wear yellow jerseys, but can not find out what the other trades wear??, e.g. aircraft technician’s, weapon technician’s etc.

Apologise for the vague question, but if anyone knows what i’m on about or has any pictures  i’d much appreciate the help 🙂 . I do not mind if it is US Navy or Royal Navy, or indeed any other navy in the world that operates the same coloured jersey system.

Thanks in advance, Chris

Hey mate, I’ll help out from memory and this also applies to the French carrier as well, can’t remember the Brazilian system.

Yellow: Aircraft Directors
Red: Armourment
Brown: Fuel/ Hydraulic systems
Purple: Air Frame
Green: Ship-Aircraft systems (i.e launch bars/ cables, arrestor hooks and cables)

Excellant thats great, thank you very much 🙂

If anyone else has any ideas or could add to the list, again much appreciated 🙂

Cheers Chris
