Aircraft cockpit lamp info?

Hi can anyone help with information reference the Mk 2 cockpit lamps that are stamped AM ref 5c/366

As there appears to be 2 types with the same markings, one made out of Bakelite and the other made out of copper of which the top part turns, they are both marked 2nd patten, would there be a difference of year of manufacture of both these types? would anyone also know the years?

There is also another type that is made of copper but hasn’t the flat top.

Many thanks as always..

I’m no expert but what I deduced when looking into these for our Horsa project there are three patterns of cockpit lamp carrying that stores number all listed as a Mk.II lamp.

Pattern.1 – Metal – has a knurled edge and a raised centre to the top switch.
Pattern.2 – Metal – raised centre to the switch removed in favour of a flat top.
Pattern.3 – Bakelite – economy version with chunkier grip to on-off switch.

Pattern 3 was still in use up to the 60’s – seen them in Vulcan cockpits. Possibly the 5C/366 -> 5Cx/5162 re-designation is a post-war re-organising of things?

I’ve got a Bakelite one with an Air Ministry crown that has had the 366 ground off and been recoded 5cx/5162.
