Aircraft Cockpit Sections/Instrument Panel Projects Part 2

Guys,
Due to the size of the original Aircraft Cockpits thread, I have had to close it down and create a new one.
The old one can be seen via this link for reference:
http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=46227
Feel free to continue discussing your Cockpit section and Instrument panel projects here.

Hello everybody!

During the quarantine period, the instrument panel for the MiG-17 was restored, as well as the moving part of the glazing. The panels on the left side of the cockpit have also been restored.

Thought I’d share some photos of my projects 🙂

1st –  Original, Anson, P-39 and Beaufort panels and my repro P-40E

2nd – P-39 Before and After

3rd – Repro Beaufighter progress, only need the Oil press (6A/560) gauges

4th – Original Oxford panel awaiting instruments I need to acquire

I have a few other projects going on in the background aswell incl Chinook, Harvard (RNZAF), Meteor, Mirage IIIO and a repro P-39 panel. My current focus is on collecting cockpit components for both Beaufighter and P-39 🙂

I think there needs to be less of a gap between the instruments on the LH panel i think its about the same as the space between the ones on the right, apart from the radio altimeter. I can send you the dimensions of the E-scope if you wish.

I’ve been doing some measuring and drawing. I don’t have any of the fancy top left missile control or radar repeater panels to measure, but the rest is getting close. Should have some laser cut in 6mm ply (possibly double thickness) for the Newark jumble the week after next.

I guess I can formally announce Im now a Jet Warbird Owner. Recently myself and a few mate went to Canberra Airport to collect my TS-11 Iskra cockpit. The aircraft was complete however 12 years of external storage had taken its toll. Now it will be mounted on a trailer and taken to airshows. Im chasing a spare rear seat cushion and that’s about it. If anyone can help with the markings and colours used in terms of the red and white id be grateful. Cheers Dave

Thanks Mike, very good of you. I’m at the equally ‘sunny’ bottom end of South Wales but would be well up for that. I perched some sim controls amongst my Sea Hawk rig, but never progressed further than that.

That’s a work of art Mike! Do you offer flights? I’d love a go.

I’m happy for any forumite to come have a play, as long as i get a bit of notice, evenings and weekends are best. I’m in sunny (?) South Manchester, just round the corner from the Avro Heritage Museum, so if ever passing just PM me; there’s no charge as I’m happy to see my toy in action.

Cheers,
Mike

Re Post 791, Cold Kiwi you could make an A6M2, A6M3 or A6M5 ,the panel is basiclly the same , it is down to what instruments

and where ,you choose to populate it with . Very Nice item.

If you PM me , I maybe able to help with some repro instruments.

Cheers Mike
