Aircraft cowling identification.

I’m trying to identify an aluminium aircraft cowling/inspection panel and hoped to find some expertise here. The part number is 1911 – 34 HGB and the inspection stamp is 407 over DHE within a circle. I’m assuming DHE is a variant De Haviland? The part has been well used and clearly suffered an accident at some stage, it sports a three inch crack that has been repaired with the use of a doubler plate.

Robert

Yes.

DHE is de Havilland engines. Add it to the memory banks!

I gather Albatross part numbers are in the format 191*** which would seem to tentatively correlate with the suspected DH identity. The inspection stamp is most certainly DHE.

It would appear to be hinged at both sides, presumably it attached to a similar piece that could be lifted up and folded back for maintenance access. Around some of the hinges there are traces of black paint.

It looks like it’s been repaired with commercial pop rivets and not AGS.

Seems a bit unlikely but could it be from a DH 91 Albatross? I never heard of a DHE stamp before – could it be DHB?
