Aircraft Crash Site Lists, Websites, etc.

Hello everybody. The main pupose of this post is to find an aircraft crash site which is reasonably accessible and local to me. I am planning to make this trip next weekend.
Any suggestions on where to start looking on the net or even better has anybody visited any sites in yorkshire they would recomend.

Thank you in advance.

Aircraft crash sites

If you are interested in the stories behind the Luftwaffe crashes in NE England, including Yorkshire, you might find www.billnorman.co.uk of interest.

Wow!
Thanks for that link.
I didn’t know there were that many crashes around the Ilkley area, I was only aware of the Halifax.
Time to go for a walk…

You need the book “High Ground Wrecks and Relics” by David J Smith its a bit old now. The only sites i have been to in Yorkshire When gliding at Sutton Bank, are the F86 Sabre on Hood Hill just below Sutton Bank. The crater is on the spine on the way to the top. I have looked for the Halifax that crashed just below Sutton Bank (Hood Grange) but never found it. The site is marked with a cross on the rock face so i am told. I have also been to the Whitley site at Arden great moor, but not much there.
