Aircraft movements at Cosford – Hangar 1

I popped down to Cosford today as I was intrigued by the message on their homepage about aircraft movements in Hangar 1.

Well a few aircraft have come in from the cold thankfully. Shots from the raised walkway. They were all having a good clean as they were looking particularly green.

Is there still room for a Comet and Britannia?

I think you will find the Comet will be inside and well looked after, so I have been told

I should think that the most important airframe to come inside should be the Mark 1 Comet. When you think how long she has sat in the same place it may be a problem moving her. If she is earmarked to come indoors I should think that a refurbishment by the Beetham restoration facility would be a must.

Comet is going inside but not the Neptune or the Britannia.

I read that the Comet was, haven’t heard about the Neptune and Britannia though. Is there much extra space in the two hangars at the top? Shame the great line up of the Shorts SB5, English Electric P1 and Lightning has been depleted. Also, do you have any shots of the new building?

This is the view to the left, so still lots of space.

Does anyone know, definitively, what’s coming inside?

The Neptune, Comet and Britannia are the three largest outside – are these coming inside?
