So now we have guessed what it is do we get to know the story behind these lovely chunks of Thunderbolt?

A friend of ours is putting parts together for a P-47 rebuild. This section came from a crash site in France (thats all i know) and parts were used in the P-47 rebuild now resplendant in the AAM at Duxford…

Sorry to rephrase – parts from this crash were used at DX – this part was surplus to that restoration.

Fighter wing, outboard of the .50 cal.

P-51 or P-47 at a guess.

Ammo bay door too wide for a Mustang. Looks like a P-47 to me.
