Aircraft Registration Books

Hi Everyone,

Im currently using Civil Aircraft Markings 2004 by Ian Allan and im finding that it is extremely inaccurate and about a year and a half out of date. Are there any other books that are similar to this that I could use that are more accurate, that come out on a yearly basis.

Thanks

Ashley

I use the TAHS Airline fleets but also have a computer based system which I get monthly updates for and is excellent. (almost 30,000 reg’s on that system to date)

Heres one for a number of international registers, might take a bit of searching though.http://homepage.ntlworld.com/hjcurtis/spotting_r.html

For UK registrations try http://www.caa.co.uk/srg/aircraft_register/ginfo/search.asp just enter the reg and hey presto all the details plus often photos.www.caa.co.uk/srg/aircraft_register/ginfo/search.asp

I use TAHS European book. I never travel outside of Europe so it does the job perfectly well for me.

I also use a PC Based logging system called No More Underlining (NMU) which I update from a variety of sources. Nowadays I only use my book at the airport itself, so I know which registrations I need to write down and which I don’t. I currently have 3054 “seen” aircraft on it, and a grand total of 55191 planes on the whole database!!!

I use the Air Britian ‘AFQR 2004@ book thats £6.95. Has all the european fleets and the world fleets from BAe31/Metro and above. Its a lightweight version of their main book but without the ex reg etc info.
I wish they would publish these books in October/November so you can put all the outstanding stuff from the summer in. When they publish them in april by the summer they are so out of date.

I too use Airlines 2004, I always have 2 reg books- one to see ex-registrations, and the other to see any details about particular aircraft!!

I use ‘Airlines 2004’ published by The Aviation Hobby Shop. I got it for £8.95, and it’s extremely good. It has the fleets of every single airline in every single country of the world, and so you rarely find an aircraft that isn’t in there. It is as up to date as they can possibly make it, and they often include planes that aren’t yet delivered if they already know the reg’s that the airline has allocated them to use.

I don’t think they have a website, but Im sure you could arrange to get a copy by phoning them on (01895)442123. They’re based in West Drayton, Middlesex.

i have about 200 registrations that are outstanding aver about a two year period you see, and I wanted to know if there are any other books that are more up to date.

what these books usually do is that they know what registrations are going to be allocated that year – like the new BA 321’s and the EZY 319’s so that they can often put these a year in advance. My book however doesnt have registrations that I collected 2 years ago. (and this is the 2004 book)

Any book such as this is out of date before its printed – have you seen how many new registrations are published in Airliner World each month?

yeah well this years CAM is really out of date, like you would not believe and that was published in March (2004) – you said that it has the whole fleets for european airlines? sounds good value
