I thought it would be a good idea, to make a thread of what relics, peaple have on there walls ,pride of there collections etc . at least with some photos this could turn into a small way of logging what relics there are via photograph. on this forum, and may come in use in the future .
i will post some of mine, that i have photographed and hope some others would like to join me, in sharing the historical bits and bobs they have ,and the interest they give to all.
the hurricane was dug 2 years ago, and after hours of cleaning what was just a daz or rusted lumps, have proved to be interesting pieces, which i will frame . with full history.
the Valves are from anson, stuka,me110 ,and bristol mercury engine,
rocker arm from Corsair in somerset.
the Long black item with SC50 on it is a real puzzle, given to me in person by the farmer of the Bridgewater/ Wembdon Ju88 .. Still to this day , i have No Idea what part it is.. and the only time ive ever heard of SC50.. was regarding Bombs ??
also there are parts including goggle remains , of Me110 shot down over the Harz Mountains in Jan 1944.
also Me109 E plates and bits from a 109E ,I bought these and am awaiting its history to be posted to me .
all i know is the 109E plates were from a 109E crashed in Poland .

Some lovely bits of stuff around. Brian, is that a Sea Harrier panel? Battle, B17 wheel? and Andy, which bit of the Luftwaffe is missing their swastika? Dirty Harry, that looks like a Welsh cupboard?! Here are some broken bits of P61. Radar panel from first dig in 86. Must have one of the first mentions of ‘video output’. Bottom is the throttle box, recovered twenty years later.
wait till ya see me Welsh Dresser Ian, well tidy trinkets!!

I can guarantee the provenance as below
On the night of the 11th/12th Feb 1941, 99 Squadron Wellington Mk1 R-LN “R”for Robert (T2888) lifted off from Newmarket on a sortie to Bremen, on board where Sgt Pilot Robinson, Sgt D N Beal, Sgt A R Clough, on return to the UK the area was found to be fogbound, after trying to locate their position for some time the aircraft finally ran out of fuel somewhere to the east of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, the order was given to abandon the aircraft and the 3 men jumped.
Later it was found that sadly Sgt A R Clough had drowned in one of the many drains and dykes of the area.
Meanwhile the empty Wellington crashed about 5 miles south of Wisbech on land near Stags Holt, the aircraft buried itself deep in the soft ground
Forty one years later I was part of the team set to recover the remains of this Aircraft, recovery continued for 3 days and the site was visited by the former pilot of R for Robert “Benny” Goodman.
Benny Goodman was on leave when “his” aircraft was used by the above crew, Sgt pilot “Benny” Goodman survived the war and eventually left the RAF as Group Captain “Benny” Goodman AFC DFC
Parts of this aircraft are on display at the Fenland Aircraft preservation museum near Wisbech, One of the propeller blades is now mounted on a plinth at the entrance to the Jockey club Newmarket (The home of 99 Squadron)
This item is a bomb release mechanism it has been sympathetically cleaned and when the two parts are fitted together the mechanisiam still operates,
Item weighs 2&3/4lb

These relics were recovered over many years from a secluded little WW2 aircraft dump in Elgin, Scotland.
A relic still working for a living – a Merlin starter on my Harley-Davidson…
Lancaster perspex window…
Not recovered from a dump – an 8 Sqn Shack AEW2 piston and conrod from a blown engine!
