I guess a significant percentage of forum folk will have added the Airfix 1/72 Sturmovik to their collection at some point. Just dusting mine off after an extended period in storage. But can anyone tell me what the 9 character Cyrillic patriotic slogan on the fuselage meant?? Google translate is not my friend.

The inscription on the fuselage is ЧАПАЕВЦЫ which translates to “Chapaevtsi” which commemorates the hero of the Russian Revolution Vasily Ivanovich Chapayev. The model depicts an aircraft that was built using money from residents of Chapayevsk (40 km south-west of Kuibyshev). A WW2 era picture can be seen here – http://aviation21.ru/il-2-samyj-massovyj-boevoj-samolyot-v-istorii-mirovoj-aviacii/

It probably means ‘only vaguely Sturmovik-shaped’…

Yanekbi! I don’t know what it means though…
