I was just looking at kits on eBay, and amongst the planes was the old Airfix Heron in Shell Oil colors as G-ANUO. From a quick google I see the plane ended up on a pole at Croydon. Does anyone have a photo of the plane in the Shell colors? Was the plane used as a VIP transport, or was it a cargo plane? And better yet, is the Heron still on the pole?

Man, cool! I had all but forgotten about this thread. Nice to see a photo of it in the same colors as on the kit box! Too bad Shell don’t still own and fly it as a historic piece. They sure can afford the fuel…

It was used as a VIP plane.

T J Johansen,
It was still mounted on the pole the last time I passed by the old Croydon airport.
