Airline enjoys passengers boost

Passenger numbers on flights to Exeter have seen the largest rise
Jersey’s main airline has announced an increase in passenger numbers of more than 50% in the last year between the island and the UK.
Flybe puts the rise down to more routes and the expanding low fares market.

Passenger numbers on flights to Exeter have seen the largest increase in the last year, followed by services to Birmingham and Gatwick.

The airline also says the number of forward bookings from Jersey is up by about 28% on the same period last year.

Lack of demand

Much of the rise is also attributable to the introduction of a new Southampton route.

But it is not all good news for the company.

They recently announced they are stopping the service to London City Airport because of a lack of demand.

The airline is also still in a wrangle with Guernsey’s Transport Board over regulations which effectively prevent it from selling tickets from Guernsey to Jersey more than 24 hours before a flight
