Airline food

Most airline food is nothing special, sometimes the food is vile and dull and yet sometimes the food can be really tasty. But what is your best and wort experiences of it?
The best airline food i have ever had was on a Virgin Atlantic 747-200 flight to Barbados. We were served Lamb, vegtables and a sauce which strangly actually tastted rather nice. The starter and desert were also very tasty! And to top it all off we were given a Mango ice-cream,yummm!!!Breakfast was great to.
My worst experience was on a BA flight to Orlando. The food was terrible,i was given fish and chips which had no taste and looked very anemic. The rest of ther food was the same and it was heaven to arrive at LGW and get a proper meal at McDonalds!
What airlines would you say have good and bad food?

RE: Airline food

No offence to you Skog, but did you find it a better than what you wered used to? I’m not wanting to sound nasty but when I tried, we had had and brie in a wrap – how I love my ham and brie wraps(!!) The stewardess asked me what I wanted, she said there was a tuna fish salad (I hate fish, so posh nosh number 2 had to be my choice). She asked if I wanted ham and brie wraps to which I said “Brie?”. I am happy with a something not quite so upmarket e.g. beef stroganof or however you say it! :9

RE: Airline food

I just tried the All day delis back and forth between MAN and OSL this weekend, and they were not very good!

I have to admit im a bit picky though, i can’t remember if i’ve ever enjoyed an airline meal, but sometimes i just get the feeling that this airline food is prepared days in advance.

RE: Airline food

The photo below just cracks me up. I’ve shown it before and find it so funny…

http://www.m4rco.net/airlinemeals/images/meals/usair001.jpg

…It is a salad from a US Airways flight and I reckon it has been tampered with to look pathetic.

Not surprisingly, the photographer said the only thing that made believe it was a salad was the fact that it had dressing on it and he gave it an overall rating of 1 out of a possible 10.

RE: Airline food

I’m with Grant T. While the JMC food is not as haute cuisine as what I had to serve at Virgin, I find it simply tastier.
The absolutely loser for me is definitely BA, regardless of class of travel. I flew down from GLA to LGW a month or so ago in club and was given a fish dish (no choice available) with bones in it, the sauce had run into everything else and flavourless. BA desserts are always monstrously heavy and leave an oily coating on yout tongue. Yuk!

RE: Airline food

So like the boring BMI salads on european flights?. Very healthy, natural, wholesome but……small portions?. A want a big tray with huge amounts of hot food. I do enjoy all meals in all airlines.

RE: Airline food

Can I just ask a question related to his? Does an airline have any say in the food they serve on flights or do they just accept whatever they are given?

Anyway, British Airways serve their All Day Deli range and it’s top notch, high quality food. 😛

RE: Airline food

Hmmm i remember a flight on lufthansa last year from cairo to munich on this dreadful a319 and we were served something that resembled dog food which i could not stomach. And a small amount of cold ravioli with it.I have never vomitted in a plane but i did on that flight. We transferd to a flight to athens where the food was a hole lot better on this LH flight.Emirates serves some great meals but i am biased working for them.

RE: Airline food

LX do good stuff, but I’ve not been impressed with the sandwich on BSL-LHR flights. It was way better when there was some competition with BA.

And what’s the excuse for not serving coffee on those flights? Not long enough to warrant turning the machine on, or something.

RE: Airline food

Hi guys.
Well I have no particular fav where food is concerned but if the alcohol is free then they have my vote.
Crossair did good food but on short flights there was too much to eat in such a short space of time.
Aprt from that AirUK leisure did very good meals

RE: Airline food

I travelled with Air Tours this summer… they made us buy the cans… that price quoted above sounds familiar. They give out Tea, Coffee, and orange squash with your meal. I can’t remember the food I got… can’t have been that bad then!!!!

RE: Airline food

Exactly…..rarely airlines charge money for drinks. Kampuchean Airlines dose…as they are in need of money…no one else in my knowledge.
