Hi all,
The Airline Images subforum has moved to the Photographic section to keep all image related threads under the same roof.
Cheers,
Webmaster

Logicaly the photographic bit is the best place for them, as well as the historic “Post your pictures of…’s” Also it gives them some sort of longevity as the other forums tend to fill up quick.
BUT!!! It’s change and we are all scared of change!!!:)
The right decision in my opinion.

It’s my experience that some people simply don’t like change, old chap. 🙂

OK, Now I’m confused. Over on Historic they’re allowed to post photographs in the main forum. Even Moggy has passed comment in his moderator mode. So is this site saying
1 Take your own photo and post it Photographic.
2 Use a really old photo and it can go in the main forum (in which case I’ll start diggin for my old stuff??Just checking
Matt
I don’t see why people are finding this so difficult. We used to post commercial aviation images in the main forum, then we had a sub-forum created and now that sub forum has just moved to the photographic section instead of the Commercial Aviation bit. I’m failing to see where the difficulty in that is!

I have assumed that this particular welter of rather repetitive threads is for any old pictures you have lying around of said aircraft, whereas the photographic forum is for people who have actually taken the pictures themselves.
This is the users’ forum, if people want to post these threads we (the mods) can’t in all fairness zap them just because they seem pretty pointless.
I guess we just sit back until one has been created for every type ever flown.
Personally I’d appeal to those tempted to post any more just to stop it.

Come on chaps, some of you are over-reacting to no small degree here.
🙂
Much ado about nothing really!!!

I understand some find them boring but im not entirely sure why. I had a similar mentality before I started my training and then I found my views changed. I prefer variety over the same thing. Dont get me wrong, I grew up by heathrow and love photographing airliners but the irony is you know most of what you’re going to see because most of it comes in every day and thats what gets a bit boring for me.

….Oh, just remembered, I fly general aviation aircraft (promised not to call them s*** c**s anymore) so they’re Ok then! 😀
Just so long as you don’t call them ‘tins’.
There would be trouble then! 😮
…I always see something different there, whether its a Cessna single engine with an interesting colour scheme or a piper or diamond aircraft right down to the Jetstreams, private jets and FAAM BAe 146. There just seems to be more variety and you can only photograph a British Airways A319/20 so many times at LHR before it becomes a little.. boring.
Ah, but remember that there are people in here (and out in the real world) who find light aircraft acutely boring.
Horses for courses, one man’s meat is another man’s poison, live and let live, etc….. 🙂

I think its better to accept more than just airliners and i’m grateful for the site owners and moderators to recognise that. Afterall if it was just airliners only the forum would have photographs of the same things over and over again – there isnt much variety at LHR and MAN and thats where most of the photos seem to be taken on here.
As my name suggests, I fly from EGTC and I always see something different there, whether its a Cessna single engine with an interesting colour scheme or a piper or diamond aircraft right down to the Jetstreams, private jets and FAAM BAe 146. By way of an update….
The old “Airlines Images” subform has now been re-named as “Civil Aircraft Images”.
Feel free to post any and all images of civil aircraft in there, including General Aviation.

It just keeps on getting worse!!! 😡 Not only has the photo forum moved, but now its going to be contaminated with spam cans too!!! 😮
Andy 😉

This might be more for the webmaster than a Mod.
Could it be an idea to do as another vBulletin forum site that I visit do, and include the sub forums on the front of the forum page, like in the attached image below.
The photographic thread could have Tutorial, Airline and Airshow as sub forums showing.
Similarly with Military with it’s Missile and Naval Aviation sub forums; Commercial with the Trip reports; and Flight Sim with the RC & Models and Screen shots subforums.
That way the casual viewer the to forum front page will see where everything is and possibly see something they might otherwise have not known was covered by this site.
And to members the sub forums would be highlighted to show that there is new content since their last visit.
I thnkk this would take away some of the comments about the airline photos being lost once away from the Commercial section.

I wonder why we are able to enter to win a signed “Flying Legends 2009” calendar (surely not an commercial aviation related issue??) from the commercial aviation forum, and yet we’re not allowed to post airliner photos in that self same forum?
Damn, our cunning plan is rumbled. 😡
OK, I confess. It’s just to annoy you, Andy. No other reason.

The move put me off initially because I always come straight to Commercial through a bookmarked toolbar in my Firefox; and when I’ve read what I wanted to I scroll up and click on the link to the Images sub forum. I was put off at the idea of having to navigate back to the first page then forward several steps just to get to Images and hastily decided not to bother checking any more. I then realised there are greater worries in life and have since added another bookmarked toolbar to take me straight to Images in the future :p
Would a link to its new location be possible from Commercial? Perhaps that will please both sides.

It would seem sensible, wouldn’t it?
Tell you what, we’ll accept GA images in the Airline Images sub-forum for the time being.
I’ll try to sort out something more permanent.
Thankyou. 🙂

am I the only one with a sense of de ja vue?
Nope, and despite what I may have said in the past, I think we need an all encompassing super duper uber commercial forum again…:D

Possibly, although other members may be experiencing déjà vu.
Meh, its been a long day

Do you accept GA photos here? I often wondered as theres an ‘airline’ section and an ‘airshow’ section but GA doesnt seem to fit in to that. GA can be interesting though – I normally see something different every time I go flying, but the likes of MAN and LHR seem to have the same thing most days.
