We have friends getting married on Sunday and off to Mexico for their honeymoon. As this is Jubilee Year, for a bit of fun I need to know what type of aircraft they would have flown in from London to Mexico City in 1952 – or would it be via US?
If anyone knows how long the flight would have been and what the airfare was that would be a bonus!

I know this is five years on from the original enquiry but why would a journey from London to Mexico City in 1952 have gone eastbound? Would it not have been simpler, shorter and cheaper to have gone westbound, across the Atlantic to New York or Miami, and, from there, got a connecting flight to Mexico City?

Singapore Airlines in 1985 would have been a 747-212 or 312. When I did that trip for the first time, in 1974, it was by 707-312.

This info is incredible… Please tell me how to find out what kind of aircraft me and my folks would have flown in 1985 from London Heathrow to Port Moresby via Singapore? I think it was Singapore Airlines but I’ve been trying to figure out which plane it was for so long… How can I find the info myself? I bet the airfares in the 80s were tons more too… I dread to think how much they paid!

Thanks wieesso for your swift response! That would have been some journey? No wonder so many Brits chose to honeymoon in Paris!
