Airline tunes!

My mum often listens to what I call airline music. As a kid whenever I flew on a charter airline they always had some bland type song playing. Faves seemed to be ‘time after time’ and ‘tonight I celebrate my love’ I heard these many times amongst others.

These cheesy easy listening tunes always take me back to boarding an old 737-200 and squeezing my nannas hand coz I was so excited to be going on my holidays and sciving school for a few weeks

I flew on Australian Airlines back in May, on one of their 767’s. They were playing lots of house/dance music…..great to hear something lively when you’ve been standing in queues all day and can’t wait to be on holiday!

Dont think so, all I remember is we had that incredibly annoying music when boarding with the adverts for the TV channel playing over and over again and on arrival we had some general music.

One thing ive noticed TCX does that no other airline (That I have flown with recently) does and its only a small thing, is that they have a member of cabin crew welcoming you at the bottom of the stairs as well as at the top. Nice touch by TCX I think.

Not true DanAir – TCX,MYT and FCA have all played music on my recent flights with them. The only exception was Britannia. And please, stop moaning about your precious freebies!

The charter airlines have indeed cut out the music, along with the meals, the bucks fizz, the hot towels and everything else!

Back in the year when Katrina and the Waves won the Eurovision Song Contest (1997 I think?), I remember our flight to Heraklion with Airtours was hell. They played the song at least 10 times throughout the flight.

Almost forgot – First Choice play some really dodgy music.

We had – Elvis Presley – Suspicious Minds (When we were approaching MAN), that song, dont know who sings it that goes ‘You can ring My Bell’ (When taking off from ZTH), we also had ‘Dont Blame It On the Boogie’, ‘Thats the way uhuh I like it’ among other such classics.

I remember the 1st time I flew with Britannia on approach to PMI they were playing The Beatles – Here Comes The Sun, a great choice. Britannia used to always play music, they dont seem to bother anymore 🙁

“Learn To Fly” by Foo Fighters wouldn’t exactly inspire confidence mid-flight, would it? 😮

Ryanair play some really dodgy Irish Music in between a woman saying car hire, hotels etc, and at the every sentence ‘Ryanair.com’. 🙂

I absolutely love boarding music, Jet2 play some really dodgy stuff though!

No doubt Ryanair don’t have music – a £0.50 tape for each airplane is far too expensive an item for them to spend money on!

But if they did what would they play ?

Welcome To The Cheap Seats- The Wonder Stuff
Shut Up- Kelly Osbourne
Shudd-uppa ya face- Joe Dolce (for the Milan route)
Take The Long Way Home- Supertramp
Yellow- Coldplay
Eight Miles High- The Byrds
We Gotta Get Out Of This Place- The Animals
Let’s Go Round Again- Average White Band
No (For the 13th time) The Wonder Stuff
Fly Me To The Moon (30km away remix) Frank Sinatra
Leaving On A Jet Plane (Don’t know where I’ll land again) John Denver
Blinded By The Light- Manfred Mann
Luton Airport- Lorraine Chase

Any more ?

Ah! The Go music. Now replaced by the catchy easyJet music from their ads.
