Airliner just reported crashed

Just received a (yet) unconfirmed report that an Iranian airliner (operated by Kish ???) has just crashed in/near the Emirates. Aircraft had some 40+ onboard. Anyone can confirm this? BW Roger

jeez, that’s going fast! That’s the third one already this year!

As for bad maintenance, I don’t know. Kish Air only got its first F50 only a year back. I know a lot can happen in a year but I don’t think that they can have cocked up maintenance that much. Remember that the F50 can handle a lot of punishment and malpractise as it has been derived from the F27.

As already mentioned, we haven’t had a very good start to this year aviation wise. Too many accidents in a short space of time for many people’s liking. RIP everyone

Yes reportly it was a twin engined Fokker 50 and also the black box recorder has being discovered already. Local people reported seen the aircraft wobbling when coming in before it went into a nose dive.

Thats very sad news. R.I.P to the victims.

As others have said this year has got off to a rather poor start aviation wise. 🙁

From what i can make out on the pic on the BBC, it look like the reg was EP-LCA.

this from bbc news:

An Iranian plane has crashed near Sharjah airport in the United Arab Emirates with up to 60 people on board.
The Kish Airlines flight had just taken off on a flight to the Iranian Gulf island of Kish. Early reports had said it was about to land.

Preliminary information suggested there were survivors. Rescue helicopters have gone to the scene.

Local TV showed several dead bodies and flames and black smoke pouring from the wreckage of the front of the plane.

The plane crashed in an uninhabited area between Sharjah and the neighbouring emirate of Ajman.

Iran has a history of air accidents, often blamed on badly maintained planes.

Two decades of sanctions by the West against Tehran have left the country with a fleet of mainly ageing aircraft.

Its worst air disaster came in February last year when 302 people including 284 members of the elite Republican Guard died in a military transport plane crash near the Afghan border.

Kish airlines was the first private Iranian airline registered in Iran, and has special status in the country’s tourist industry.
