Airliner's

The real,

Question is? Are you a Airliner’s Nut ADDICK ?

That is the real questions …

Many love the fast movers jet fighter as we can see in the world market
of RC’s. But do we really know about the airliner’s that meet’s the RC’s ?

Who is not attracted to one of those airliner’s while they pass overhead.
Who does’nt have goose bump when seen a RC large airliner fly by on youtube?

Let’s have a look at some of them on the RC’s front …

—————————————————-

Hi Airliner’s Boy’s,

in today EDF world we have seen alote of new products on the EDF front the past fiew years and it as been a pleasure to see that technology going wild and up foward. As many compagnies are going strong on the fighter jets making of our best type we enjoy to fly.

But some compagnies and individual’s have a greater passion with EDF.
Here is 2 left seatter Captain’s on the (330-300) and have made their life career as airliner’s pilots.

Those 2 (Cpt’s) had a dream:

“Set Thrust” was born from a combination of both the frustration and intrigue that we had developed at not being able to find a beautifully scaled, decently sized remote control airliner anywhere on the market.

http://www.setthrust.com/wp-content/gallery/emirates/dsc_4372.jpg

Our initial design criteria was based on the concept that it must be easily transportable by car to the flying field and be powered by a commonly found, practical to source power setup. As for the initial aircraft type? Well, that was the easy part, as the two partners in the company, we (Tom and Richard) are both currently operating the type as Captains and are enthusiasts of the A330 from an aesthetic point of view so it was a natural place to start. We have day-to-day access to the aircraft as well which has allowed us to measure every part and detail considered worth replicating and scale it down to our 2m long, 2m wingspan remote control version.

Hong Kong is an exciting, vibrant place with China just a few kilometers up the road and across the border. Kai Tak, the old Hong Kong international airport has been a haven for radio control fliers and what a flying field it makes.

There is nothing more satisfying than touching down after the piano keys on the old, original runway with all the historical landmarks passing by in the background as the landing roll is completed. It is a place to meet the locals and witness just how much passion that this hobby has in our little city. Some of these local RC enthusiasts have factories in China and it has been a great opportunity to make valuable contacts with some really outstanding people. Which is where it all started. Two young, local Hong Kong Chinese guys who produce helicopter bodies would often be seen at the field or socializing around the many model shops here in Hong Kong.

We arranged a few meetings with them and after much discussion put them to the task of building our A330. Their enthusiasm has been as tangible as ours and it has been a real privilege to have so much professionalism and expertise behind our project. After a number of trips backwards and forwards to China during the construction process we finally have our finished product, almost a year since our first meeting and we believe we have a very exciting new aircraft to bring to market.

—————————————————————————

What is the cost of the A330?

You can order our A330 with or without power plants. Either option includes the aircraft, the air up/spring down retract units and scale oleos, screws for assembly and the windows and doors decal kit. The A330 without motors, fans and speed controllers is USD $1195.00 and the same kit with two motors, fans and speed controllers is USD $1495.00.

What is the all Up Weight of A330? – About 4.5kg using two 4S 3300mAh batteries, which are good for over 5 minute flight times.

How much thrust is required? We recommend at least 900g of thrust per side. We have measured 1.15kg of thrust per side using our optional power plant package.

How many batteries does it require? – Two. One per power plant

Which batteries are you using? – 4S, 3300mAh batteries providing about 5.5mins flight time.

Are push rods, clevises etc included? – Yes

How do I order? – By direct email contact using info@setthrust.com . We are a small operation and take your order seriously and personally and this way we can ensure we have a mutual understanding of exactly how you want your A330 prepared.

How do I pay? Either direct transfer to our HSBC account or login to your Pay-Pal account and send funds to info@setthrust.com after your order has been finalized by email.

How many receiver channels do I need? – Minimum of 7 channels required but ideally 9 channels. We use a nine channel receiver; One channel for nose wheel steering / rudder using a Y lead, 2 channels for aileron, two channels for flap using a Y lead, one channel for elevator using a Y lead, one channel for the retract switch and one channel for each speed controller.

How many servos are you recommending? – We are using one servo for each aileron, two servos per wing for flap (this can very easily be changed to one using a small rod to link the two flap surfaces), two servos for the elevator (this can also easily be changed to one by clamping the two internal push rods from the elevator and linking to one servo), one servo for the rudder, one servo for nose wheel steering and one servo to control the air retract unit.

Can the A330 take off from grass? – We haven’t had an opportunity to use a grass field yet and will be relying on customer feedback in due course but we do have some video footage of our high-speed taxi tests on our local cricket ground, which has short grass. The normal acceleration rate can be seen clearly on this video. In addition, the gear can be raised slightly to give better engine pod clearance for such conditions.

How easy is the A330 to transport? – Our A330 fuselage comes in three pieces and screws together so you have a variety of options depending on the size of your car. Currently we remove the tail section of fuselage for transport and slide the aircraft into the back of the car wings first down the length of the vehicle and just the nose and center fuselage section across the width of the vehicle. This makes for a very short assembly time at the field. This technique simply requires three screws to fit the tail section at the field and the plugging in of the rudder servo and two elevator servos. The additional benefit of this method is that the wings are permanently on eliminating the risk of inadvertently changing the angle of incidence on a wing when you attach it at the field.

What airline liveries are available?

The gallery section shows a variety of liveries that we have done so far. Almost anything is possible. Just email us with your request and we’ll advise accordingly.

I think they deserve to have a shot here and that is why I have made them a open thread.

They made a superb airliner and I salut those guy’s that take there dream to reality …

A build thread as been open lately if you wish to follow the build.

Here is

some other compagny from down under that were making alote of
test making on a varieties of airliners a fiew years back.

Don’t know why they stop doing the large amount of prototype from the past.

http://www.edfmodel.com/site/images/212248.jpg

Now I think the only have one version offer to the public. And this is a (B-737) that they call the (301) and can be made form a varieties of variant like follow: 400-600-700-800 …

http://www.edfmodel.com/site/images/244840.jpg

You will have to choose the variant you want to acheive as scale of course.

http://www.edfmodel.com/site/images/212251.jpg

To bad they don’t make those large one anymore,
as they had so many at test prcess flights if I remember well from the past fiew years.

http://www.edfmodel.com/site/images/228351.jpg

What happen to them?

http://www.edfmodel.com/site/images/212249.jpg

One thing for shure,
The B-737 (301) is really something as scale raplica type model airliner they have done.

Just to bad they have’nt got anymore the other prototype larger airliner’s in line for us to purchase.

http://www.edfmodel.com/site/images/262705.jpg

You can also follow the build thread of the B-737 or (301) airliner.

Yesterday,

was windy, rainy & overcast …

As I was over with some pre-flight spring check on the LAMA
I got to the SIM and got a fiew hours flying the B-787 Airliner.

I have created a new Int’l airport and made 2 runway’s and one
to fly right over a hangar end of runway building while on final glide path.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_VmYRAkGRDhw/TZw9VWDyylI/AAAAAAAAC8Q/qZZx34hHN7w/ScreenShot1302029529.jpg

Airliner’s are really something to fly and to handle as scale flying circuit.
I will have to to make one after my 2 present scale projects have been acheived.

So for the time been ,, I got a scheduled check-ride as left seatter Captain with Boeing chief test pilot.

Here is my check ride photographies while been assign test as Captain on the B-787 yesterday afternoon at WACO Int’l airport I have created …
