Again, I would be careful about being so sneaky with the camera. More than anything you are drawing attention to yourself either from the cabin crew or other passengers. If you are approached by the crew it’ll be more difficult to explain that you are just taking pictures for fun after being so sly with your equipment. In our current state of security and crew/passenger alertness I wouldn’t be so quick to act suspicious. I have heard of passengers being pulled off aircraft for such activities. No matter how innocent a passengers intent is the crew doesn’t have much time to explore the “why” of a suspicious activities at the gate so the passenger can be removed so others can figure out why someone was acting as they were.

Shove it down the side of your seat when the FA walks past!!! 😀

But no… they dont really mind. I sat taking pictures out of the window on an Aer Lingus flight with the FA standing behind me. She didnt say anything 🙂

thanks, yeah thats what i usualy do, shove it on the side.
once on an ERJ, i was sitting in the back, like 14a on a 135 and as soon as the f/a walked past me with the drinks i took out my camera. 🙂

I’ll certainly be taking some shots whilst over-flying the desert in the Middle East tomorrow. It’s nice to have a shot or two to remember your trips by.

Have a great trip mate 😉
Enjoy 😀

Well it depends on the airline, I’ve actually been forbidden from taking inflight shots and a flight deck shot on my last Ryanair trip. Back in August on arrival at AMS a Bmibaby cabin crew member also told me I couldn’t take a cabin shot or flight deck shot due to security reasons and I’d be better off trying when I got back to the UK.

Then again this may of all changed, can vary all the way down to the individual flight I guess….

I find that often it helps if you are able to show some photos, preferably photos you took yourselves (in case they ask for details). Make sure you include at least a few photos where you can see how close you can get to airplanes “elsewhere”. If you want I can show you a few AMS and ZRH shots where you can see people standing next to a runway. Photos like those are often more effective at explaining your hobby.

In your case it might even be interesting to add a few shots from Air Force 1. After all, the average police officer in the US will think twice about accusing you of standing too close to planes when you can show some detail shots of AF1 (again, mail me if you are interested).

You can take pictures on the plane and at the airport. Actually trying to hide the camera may cause more problems as it’ll make you look suspicious. If anyone has a problem with it just comply as they asked and they’ll pay you little further mind.
