Airliners at Farnborough!

Most people think of Farnborough as busy for two weeks every other year with a huge international airshow, and for the 2 years in between nothing happens apart from a few biz jet movements. Whilst that might have been the case 5 years ago Farnborough is seriously on the up, and in terms of movements is similar to many of the regional airports such as Belfast City and Southampton.

Today was a very good example of the diversity and interest that Farnborough can bring, with several airliner types intermingling with the vast amounts of biz jets. Business aviation doesnt seem to interest a great deal of people these days, so instead of bombarding you with all the pictures of Citations etc here are my photos over the last few days of the airliner types we have been recieving, intermingled with a few nice biz jets as well 😀

First off is an Eastern Saab 2000 that positioned in from Norwich, and departed out as a charter to Belfast City, not sure if AndrewM has pics from the other end or not.

Next is a G4, in old Saudi Arabian Airlines colours departing to Geneva:

Dornier 328JETs are quite common here, Austrian ones often dominating:

A Global Express operated by the same Company as the first J328:

And finally a member of the Royal Family departing to Manchester:

Spent the afternoon up at Farnborough today in a break from exams. Several “heavies” were due in as part of an Arab invasion, but the weather sadly did not play ball.

The Dubai Government BBJ:

The Sharjah Government A319CJ:

The Jordanian Governments Challenger:

And an Irish Lear Jet actualy being used by a member of the Royal Family, under a “Sparrowhawk” callsign from Aberdeen:

That An-72 has been a regular visitor into East Midlands recently, unless there are more than one ?

Yeah I guess so. The Beacon pod looks irregularly large too…

As I said on msn, excellent shot. Those ‘pods’ towards the rear of the fuselage. Are they some kind of anti-missile mechanism?

Bumping this one back up again. A Senior member of the Royal Family flew form here to Liverpool today with an entourage of 11, meaning the 146 was in use in place of the usual 125. Both 146s have now been repainted into this low viz scheme, I caught ZE700 at AMS last week being wheeled out of the paint shop.

The HLX came out quite nicely, but I think photobucket resized both biz jet shots. Maybe it doesnt like them either!

Spent most of the day up here again today, several interesting airliners, and lots of Biz!

VP-BCC operating a Corporate Shuttle from the Middle East:

D-AHLE of Hapag Lloyd Executive. It uses the HLX: Excellent callsign and has Tui smiles, so it counts as an airliner 😀

Netjets Europe first Beechjet Hawker 400XP, going to be a very common sight in Europe by the end of the year:

And finally you may be feeling some deja vu as I showed you this corporate MD80 a month or so ago. Its operating for a Canadaian firm with oil interests in Kazakhstan, and routes through here from Canada to Almaty. Today she departed for Iqalit, 2 days ago she arrived from Vancouver! One hell of a trek for an MD80, but undoubtadley ktited out like a palace inside!

This is the type of shot you are stuck with at the other end, by runway 24 which is sadly the predominant runway. This is N31EX arriving from Teterboro, New Jersey:
