Airliners you'd love to fly on

There’s tons of aircraft types I’d love to fly on, but am unlikely to. Types like the 707 (I went on a 720 once and hated it!), Trident, 727 and DC-10. My number one though, is the Dash 7!

RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on

Wow ! some of you guys must never be on the ground for very long!

To my earlier wish list, I’d like to add the VC-10, Caravelle, DC-8 and 707. Does anyone know what type would have made the Glasgow to Isle of Man flight for BIA in the early 70’s ? Only asking because I was on one as a baby, knowone in the family has a clue what plane it was.

RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-12-02 AT 04:48 AM (GMT)]Great Question! I just flew on a Continental EMB-145 (Seat 19A).The seating is 1-2, so I had the single..EXCELLENT. Large windows made for some nice viewing of the wing, engine, and landscape.

My dream flight? A stretch 8..(See attached Icelandair photo by Frank Schaefer posted at Airliners.net),but I think there may only a couple -62’s still flying passengers in the UAE.

RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on

Me it’s easy:

Sabena RJ85
Deutsche BA 734

Maybe Germanwings A319 in the near future, and also SNBA RJ85

What I’d like: of course Concorde, 757, Dornier 328Jet, Embraer 135 – 145, AN72 (even if cargo), then classics like Constellation, DC3.

RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on

I have flown on a variety of aircraft:

Court Line Tristar
Britannia Airways Boeing 737 a number of times
Dan Air Bac 1-11
Air Europe Boeing 737
Orion Airways Boeing 737
Aviaco DC9
Spantax DC8 stretch
Lion Air (on lease to Airtours before they had their own in house
airline) Boeing 747
Alitalia MD82
Alitalia MD11
Virgin Atlantic A340

But the most memorable was a flight on a Tarom TU154 from London Heathrow to Bucharest Otopeni.

I would loved to have flown on a Caravelle, but by far my favourite plane was the DC8-63

RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on

I’ve flown in :

Comet
VC10
Tristar
and I have a dim recollection of a Brittania.

What I’d really like tho’ is a trip in the Heracles (Not Hercules…the old Biplane with four props) a Shorts Empire Flying Boat and being really really greedy the saunder Roe Princess flying boat.

Thinks….must’ve been born thirty years too late !

Cheers

RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on

Yes, good airliner. Quite confortable. It remains the biggest fiasco in aviation history. ( Only 8 ever produced).

They were operated by Air Inter.

If you have the opportunity to come to Paris , one is available for visit south of ORY near RN7.

RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on

My list seems to miss out the smaller aircraft: commuter aircraft especially.

Airbus A300: Monarch Airlines
Airbus A319: British Airways
Airbus A320: Monarch Airlines, Cyprus Airways, Airtours
Airbus A330: Airtours International (now MyTravel of course), Monarch Airlines
Boeing 737: British Airways
Boeing 767: Airtours International, Britannia Airways, United Airlines
Boeing 777: United Airlines
McDonnell Douglas DC-10: JMC Air

Most of the above have been flown more than once and I fly at least one return journey every year. This year alone I have flown 3 return journeys: Barcelona, Jamaica and America (New York) and am next scheduled to fly two 737s to/from Bologna from Gatwick in February with BA.

RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on

Actually I suspect that most of us haven’t really flown on many aircraft types at all. My list is:

Herald, Viscount, F27, F28, ERJ-145, CRJ-200, DC-9, MD-80, HS 748, J31, J41, ATP, 146, L1011, 720, 717, 737 classic, 737NG, 747-all, 757-200, 767-200, A300B4, A300-600, A310-300, A319, A320, Beech 1900C+D, Shorts 330, 360, ATR-42/72, Dash 8-200, -300.

That leaves so many blanks – Russian types, lots of older Western types, A330/340, 777…

Hands up anyone who has used a Russian aircraft, or an unusual Western type like the Comet, VC-10, jet Convairs etc…!

RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on

I would love to fly one of the Asian carriers wide body aircraft to experience the service. Although I love the A330, I’ve never actually flown on one. Oh, and I’d like to fly on an MD-11.

a/c flown B707/737/747/757/767/777, DC 8/10,MD80, A319/320/321/340, Dash 8, BAE 146, L-1011

While I’m listing aircraft I thought I’d list airlines as well. AC,LH,BA,BD,EI,QF,CO,CP,PA (Pan Am hope that’s right), World Ways, Ryan Air, Alaska, Horizon

Have a good day,
