In Tim Vigors book “lifes too short too cry” he mentions The Main RAF pub as being the Kings Head. I have spoken to locals who have never heard of it. I allways thought the Crown was the main place to be?

All the best,
Chris.
although i believe that one was a more recent ‘theme’ pub rather than an original/period watering hole… seem to remember it closed at some point as i think there was some discusision about the fate fo some of the memoribilia…
The Bluebell in Tatershall Thorpe was/is a local aircrew pub for Woodhall Spa/Coningsby and of course the Petwood Hotel..

The old Saracen’s Head was nicknamed “The Snake Pit”. It’s motto: “It’s safer over Essen”.

I think almost every staion had a local.
There was one in East Kirkby village (still open) and with I think still with memorbilia and another at Spilsby (again still open).
I don’t know about Lincoln itself.
Andy.

As stated in the other thread the Saracens Head was the “Local’ for the RAF. This bar has been closed for many years closing in 1959? although the building still stands and is now Waterstones bookshop.
