These pictures were lent to me by a colleague who use to work at Gatwick and Heathrow in health and safety.
He rescued them from the bin! Although I’m more into Military aircraft I thought you might want to take a look at these, many taken early 80’s but I believe some are older.
Cheers
Tim

No worries mate. If you do get around to it, it would be great to see them:)

Hi MSR777,
Yes, there are other pics, mainly of the aircraft on the ramp, again circa mid to late 80’s and early 90’s at a guess.
Haven’t yet got round to scanning these from the original prints.

Regarding the BIA Herald shots, I’ve noticed a date on the back of the prints which reads July 20th 1975, unfortunately a lot of the pics aren’t dated.
Cheers
Tim

I remember the BIA Herald wheels up ‘take off’. I worked in ATC from 1975 to mid 1979 so it occurred sometime in that window. I was in the radar room when the alarm went down, looked through the venetian blinds covering the window and saw this Herald sitting on the runway!
Apparently the crew forgot to select take off flap, hauled it off the ground and as soon as it airborne it sunk back down again. No injuries and being a Herald the pax just stepped out onto the runway.

Very nice shots Tim. I don’t know how big your ‘photo vault’ is, but I hope there might be some more:)

No worries 🙂
The overhead shots are great. It’s nice to see the old overheads that really show how the airports have changed since! 🙂
Keep them coming 🙂

The second picture is Gatwick, it’s upside down, bottom is north, It needs flipping vertically.

Hi EGTC,
Sorry, but I don’t think so unfortunately.
The only other overhead shots are these, first one is Glasgow Airport and the second shot, well to be honest I haven’t a clue?!

Incredible!
Got anymore old LHR overhead shots?

Some amazing pics Tim, and thanks for taking the time to post them. Glad they were rescued from that bin:)

Can’t see the tail codes, but from the look of things, that is the Comet 4C arriving at East Fortune’s Museum of Flight back in 1981.
