Airport Codes

Just a little curiosity really….

Some airport codes can easily be understood because they closely correlate with the airport name; e.g. MAN = Manchester, NCL = Newcastle.

However, some just don’t seem to bear any resemblance and I wondered where the codes were derived from.

Classic Example – How does Teesside become MME? How does Malaga become AGP?

Thoughts anyone? 🙂
