Is the tounge of flame out the back during it’s display normal?
Can’t say I’ve seen that at a UK display before.

It looks like a pop surge to me, this is when the reheat FCU does not sense the jet pipe pressure, it chops the fuel, then senses it again, so dumps a load of fuel into the jet pipe to compensate, this ignites with an explosion effect, it then starts over again and repeats the cycle, hence the balls of burning fuel. I can tell you from doing ground runs and standing by the jet pipe of a Jag I.E about 4 foot from it when it happens, it certainly catches your attention., warms the cockles of your heart and about everything else too and the noise makes you almost wet yourself. You have to be careful as the resulting build up in pressure can surge and damage the engine.
