Airshow act sponsored by Guinness?

Hi all,

This may be a blindingly obvious question to some of you. I’m looking for some aircraft with “Guinness” prominently displayed thereon. Anything come to mind?

Thanks,
bob

Thanks, all. Now that I finally get back to check for an answer, I get “bandwidth exceeded” for the Starduster link. I’ll give it some time and try again! That Stearman could work, especially with the new Revell kit coming out.

bob

p.s. Now I’ve seen it- thanks!!

In the mid-1990s the Stearman G-THEA came to the hangar at Swanton Morley for refurbishment for the Ryan family, the owners of Ryanair. The aircraft, which had been a familiar sight at airshows during Lindsey Walton’s custodisnship, had the Roydon canopy removed and was repainted in a dark blue and yellow scheme with the harp emblem on the rudder and the name ‘Spirit of Tipperary’ on the front fuselage panels. The aircraft was soon flown to Ireland where it’s still based, albeit without the harp emblem.

Back in the mid ’90s Starduster EI-CDQ was painted in a Guinness paint scheme. It was based in Abbeyshrule and was eventually sold to the UK.

not airshow act either but 815 NAS had a connection with Guinness, i’m sure some lynx had the harp device stencil on the tail pylon in the 80’s/90’s.

Thought I remembered one, but a little digging find that it was neither Guinness, nor aerobatic!

Well, I knew it wasn’t aerobatic, because it was a special scheme on a Ryanair Boeing 737-200. In fact EI-CNY was promoting the ‘Kilkenny’ brand and painted in dark brown and cream representing a half poured glass of Irish Stout, but not a ‘Guinness ‘. Time period would be at least early 1998 until a /c sold late 2005.

Not too many aircraft have been in promotional scheme for drinks manufacturers, one I do clearly recall was half a Concorde in Pepsi blue.

Well that wasted half an hour chasing a total research ‘red herring’… and now it is too late for a drink!

I agree that a wing walker Stearman rings a slight bell in the fading grey cells, though it must have been quite short-lived in a promotional scheme.
