Just to share with you the fact that they are expecting 400,000 people to turn up for the Lowestoft show over the next two days.
OK, I know it has no entrance fee, but getting there is not without cost. Seems that a motley ragbag of aircraft and Denny Dobson is what the public think they want.
Puts it almost up to Mildenhall figures.
Anyone know what the final numbers were for Leg Ends?

I think you’ll find there are lies, damn lies and airshow attendance figures. If you count everyone in the Lowestoft area on the day you’ll get 200,000, but those that are genuinely there for just the airshow will be a tad less methinks – Mildenhall were notorious for guessing at crowd levels, the mythical 500,000 for the 2001 show being a classic case. 150,000 was probably nearer the mark – with maybe 350,000 stuck in the queues outside!

“Lowestoft costing Snapper and fellow Lowestoft dwellers a small fortune in council tax”
WHAT????!!!!!!!!!!
*******s. I’m gonna start collecting Bofors guns in time for next year. They should make people pay for this show. etc etc.
Mind you, I have to snap (and sell) pix of the sponsors at their meal tonight, so thats a nice rebate for me…..
Next year I’m going to sling a rope around an area 200 by 300 metres, with a gap and a sign saying private enclosure, £4 per person, and make money for old rope…

Anything to do with Leg Ends costing a small fortune to get into (still good value for money considering the content) and Lowestoft costing Snapper and fellow Lowestoft dwellers a small fortune in council tax (as well as the other sponsors of course). Just think how many would be there if it was at the weekend, I feel the Suffolk coast could collapse with the weight of the people :p
As you say, Lowestoft is geared for the general public whereas Leg Ends is slightly more specialised in terms of content. I enjoyed Lowesoft last year, really went to see the Albatross do it’s water landings (got one more water landing than I bargained for) and the Sea Vixen, but this year the need to earn a living is getting in the way.

So what it boils down to is that ten times as many punters will see the Lowestoft Show as saw Legends?
Hmmmmm

Approximately 17,600 on the Saturday, just over 17,000 on the Sunday (the exact figures escape me at the moment)
A
P.S. The biggest ever attendance at Duxford was the VJ Day anniversary show in 1995 with approximately 40,000 attendees…closely followed by the Spitfire 60th Anniversary show in 1996 with approx 35,000 attendees…cannot remember the figures for the Battle of Britain show in September 2000, think a similar number to the Spitfire show attended, but not me, who was stuck in bed with glandular fever 😡

So Snapper, will you be giving us regular aishow updates from the top of your stepladder. Norwich Airport has just been buzzed by a black Hawk, and I’m expecting the BBMF to arrive at some point (Spit and Hurricane at least)

The sun is shining. The beaches are sandy. The water has a blue flag for cleanliness. You can buy proper wood-smoked kippers from really old smokehouses. You can buy wholesale frozen fish off the fish market (far better than the fresh fish at Tesco). You can come into Chadds (opposite Barclays) and see me. You can have candyfloss and ice cream, donuts and chips.
And even see a few noisy old hairdriers.
