Airshow Exclusive

The Rural Flying Corps Cessna Formation Display Team are expected to make their Airshow debut early in 2005. This shot was captured last week as they got in some pre-season practice at Bourn.

Team Leader, Rodney Croft, was keeping quiet about their display routine, but if this formation landing is anything to go by, we should be in for a real treat with some pretty tight flying.

Bear tent or beer tent!!! Think you’ve been on the sauce writing like that 😉

The Aztec WAS leading but then ended up in the slot – rather like one of my formation leads – as you well know…. 😎

DB

Actually I meant bare 😉

I wouldn’t call it leading as such, more a desperate charge for the display line follwed by a turn the wrong way and a panicky break! 🙂

Looking at the picture, if the Aztec is leading, they are going backwards. Bet you were in the bear tent again Big Nose 🙂

And the British Airways club at High Wycombe used to put up a four-ship PA-28 Cherokee formation. Their intoductory manouvre used to be a formation STALL. Anybody got a picture of that!

I believe Southend’s Seawings used to have a formation Cessna group nicknamed “Seaweed”.

They used to do this a Coventry flying club. Last time I saw it was at the last ever Coventry air show some years back. A C172 led four C152s. Amazing. Seems Cessnas have their uses after all. 😉

Hmmm!! Three aircraft with the same registration – now that’s a novel formation idea! Everyone can blame each other for being spat out of the turns!
The authorities might find it interesting too and might want to see the aircraft/pilots and offer “appropriate advice”..

‘Freak perspective storm hits airfield’

Freak weather conditions cause a temporary lack of optical perspective causing aircraft at the rear of formations to look kind of big and scary. These localised phenomenon can be very dangerous whilst landing and in the circuit , you have all been warned 😮
