Airside at Manchester!

Hey All

Here are a collection of photos taken at Manchester over the past few days; the majority were taken today. The weather was great, so I made the most of it!

Enjoy 🙂

Fine shots, Adam. My favourite is the BA 735 shot – very nice angle.

Your watermarks or your photos? 😀

Sorry… I’m joking of course! No, they’re not big or offensive by any means, although personally I’d fade them a little so they don’t jump out of the image quite so much. They’ll still serve their purpose in exactly the same way, but just hide within the image a little more. 🙂

Paul

I shall fade ’em a little next time. 🙂

Thanks for the comments everyone, much appreciated.

Its great to see images from an Airside point of view. Doe MAN have a policy about staff with Cameras airside?. Just at newcastle there banned airside for staff.

There is no policy banning photography airside, but you need to get permission from the relevant people first. The DfT has a set of rules saying that as a member of staff, you can only go airside for business reasons – you can’t go for the hell of it. I went with a business reason, but took advantage of the sun.:D

Glad to see you took a break from directing lost passengers to very well signposted locations within the terminal!

Paul

I should like to point out that directing lost passengers and Customer Services is not in my job description as I work back of house in Operations, but when passengers see someone with an airport pass, wearing a suit, they tend to swarm in all over you. Still, thats not to say that I don’t like helping lost, confused, or just plain stupid passengers – staff have an obligation to give customer service levels above and beyond the call of duty. :p

I don’t think that is the idea in all honesty. The general idea is that the watermark is difficult to get rid of without making it obvious. Watermarks placed in the corner of a shot in clear blue sky are easily cloned out. If you place it over a part of the fuselage or other object wthin the shot it will be obvious if cloning has taken place to try remove it.

That said, watermarks don’t necessarily need to be huge and offensive. I prefer to fade the watermark so it doesn’t detract too much from the image but would still be as obvious if someone tried to clone it out.

Each to their own, though!

From what I read in a recent thread I think that’s the idea.

you need your signature down the bottom or in the corner..it sort of detracts from the shot

Absolutely superb, Adam. Very nice work indeed and the Virgin 744 shot is stunning. Glad to see you took a break from directing lost passengers to very well signposted locations within the terminal!

Are you processing your images in a slightly different way? The colour, contrast and sharpness in the sunny shots is probably the best I’ve ever seen from you!

Nice to see Midland G-DBCJ back in service after there was a small incident with it up here at LBA. I will try take a few from an airside prospective up here at LBA over the next few weeks! Good shots!
