AirSpace Opens tommorow

Just noticed that AirSpace opens on Saturday. Looking at the pics on the link below it looks great. The hanging aircraft seem very visable and unlike the American Hall they’re facing the veiwing gallery! Maybe some of the project’s critics will be happy once they’ve visited and seen the place for themselves.

As I’ve got Sat and Mon off but all the major airshows are on Sunday, I think I know what I’ll be doing now!!!!

According to the Duxford web site, it will only be open for that week and the airshow.

It would be nice. I’m not holding my breath.

The main point is that IWM have worked hard towards getting all their aircraft under cover, and still on show. A viable alternative the anti-hanging brigade might consider is that they could’ve been popped into store instead. I don’t like aircraft hung, but I’d rather they were on show, hung, than outside or in store.

It was well lit, with all the lights on, for the press preview, but how many of the lights are going to be on for the paying public?.

I am impressed as the display actually matches quite closely the “architets view” posted when the display was mooted.
I saw it on Anglia TV last night. It looks good.

Article says the 29th, the staff were told the 29th earlier this week, so I would not turn up at Duxford this weekend expecting to visit AirSpace without telephoning first…

You would think they would have it open over the Bank Holiday weekend, particularly Monday, as there is an ‘Action’ day.
