Airspeed and Swinderby

Did Airspeed make components for other aircraft manufacturers?

In particular for Fairey, Vickers, Shorts, HP, or Avro??

I have a piece of alloy recovered from Swinderby that has the AS (Airspeed) inspection stamp on it, but I don’t think Swinderby flew anything of Airspeed manufacture.

Please note the item was recovered in the mid 90s just after Swinderby closed. Permission was granted by RMC to detect there. The current owners won’t allow any such activity.

Cheers.

Tim.

They were involved with Vampire development and production of those and Mosquitos, but equally could it not be from an Oxford? The type was a regular visitor to most RAF airfields in its communications and Radio/Nav Aids support roles
